Thank you for the excellent support. I understood the post and image but did not understand the media library piece. That certainly makes things crystal clear. I will say that I will also post about this company, products, and excellent support and may you make a great many sales especially for your ethics and over delivery on your products. You can use this as a testimonial if you choose.

Wordpress Theme Designer has excellent themes designs which I use. The thing that really stands out is their excellent support and over delivery on their product. I received professional and excellent clear direction when I did not do something correctly. They were very nice and explained how to correct my mistake to gain the most of their product. I recommend them highly without reservation. They really do care and they have proved themselves not just talked about it. Thank you Wordpress Theme Designer so much for all that you have done.

Hi Michelle,

1. To set slideshow to display excerpt, kindly go to feature.php at line 21. and replace dp_clean($post->post_content, 300); with the_excerpt();

2. To reduce gap between the header image and the navigation, kindly go to style.css at line 74 and adjust padding.

3. To hide Youtube video player, backup sidebar.php then kindly go to sidebar.php at line 44-51. You may delete this area.

Hope this helps,

Hi Gabriel,

1. Kindly go to functions.php at line 108. replace '...' with ''. Then go to index.php at line 21 and the text below before the < /p >
< a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>">Read More

2. It will really disappear since the default widgets are set to be hidden when you customize or add a widget. With regards to the styles of widgets, you have to manually set styles or CSS on some widgets. Kindly go to style.css and customize the styles.

Hope this helps,

Hi Rick,

To associate an image to a post all you have to do is to attach an uploaded image within the post. To be more specific here's how:

Using Media Library (This assumes that you have already created the post):
1. Go to Media Library->Add New.
2. Browse and select your image file then Save all changes.
3. At the Media Library area, find your image then click the "attach" link at the "Attached to" column.
4. Find the Post where you like to attach the image. That's it. Your image is now attached to the post, and it will be used in the slider and as thumbnail.

Within Post:
1. Go to Edit Post or Create a New Post.
2. Select the image "Add an Image" located above the content area.
3. Browse and select your image file then Save all changes. That's it.

What it is is that images were associated previously. Thus the image for the post and the home page slides were the same. AS I needed to change the images what I did was to open the post and using the html tab simply change the image name to the correct one. The reason is because it was a thumbnail on the upper left of the post and the add image made it bigger in the post than what I wanted.

I had uploaded the images to the correct folder so that was good. However I may be missing something on assigning those images later on so the post and the slide match. I do not understand how to associate it for the slide and the post as I thought they did it all the same. Excuse me for not knowing this as I am new to wordpress. You can look at the site at http://actioneers.com/ to see where I am at on this. I have learned a lot already but want to learn more. There is one or two that are ok but most are not. Can you tell me how to associate these to be correct?

Thanks.

Hi Rick,

You have to upload your new image then associate/link that image to the post. The images displayed in the posts are not necessarily the images which will be displayed on the slides. The images displayed on the slides are the latest images associated with the featured posts.

However there is one more issue I can't seem to resolve. I had images that were assigned to the post. When I went into the post to change the image it changed for when I bring the post up but on the home page the image did not change. How can I get the image on the home page match up with the one on the post?

Hi. I have a problem with the photo slider captions. It's displaying html caption code along with the first paragraph of the post. Is it possible to get it to display what's in the Excerpt field instead of pulling from the top of the post? If not, is there a way to get it to stop displaying the code?

Hey thank you for the very useful answer!

I have a few other questions:

1. Is there a way to end every excerpt of text on the homepage with a link to the particular page like "... Read More" ?

2. Some weird things happen when I add any widget inside the top sidebar:
- The whole "Default" sidebar that comes with the theme disapears
- What replaces it has a messed up padding/margin. For instance, if I add a
"Categories" box, the links don't have any margin or padding at all and just
hang on the top left corner of the box.

It's just the same with the Emperor Theme. All you have to do is to attach an uploaded image within the post. To be more specific here's how:

Using Media Library (This assumes that you have already created the post):
3. At the Media Library area, find your image then click the "attach" link at the "Attached to" column.
4. Find the Post where you like to attach the image. That's it. Your image is now attached to the post, and it will be used in the slider and as thumbnail.

Thanks! Another question...

In your Schemermag demo (http://wpthemedesigner.com/demo/), the home page has the Featured Gallery plug-in on the home page. I like the way that works and would like my home page to have the same.

I've downloaded and installed the Featured Gallery plug-in and read the instructions on how to set which posts are featured, the size, etc.,

Now, where do I add the code below to call the php file so that it appears just as it does in your demo?

Hi Rick Simmons,

1. If you're referring to the archives widget at the sidebar, you can remove that by going to sidebar.php and removing codes from line 58 to 63. Another option is for you to add a widget at Appearance->Widgets->Left Sidebar. By doing so, you'll replace the default widgets with whatever widget you'd like. Feel free to explore.
2. Kindly download the theme from the Members Area and use it instead of the free theme you are using now. Then go to footer.php and feel free to change text. to change alignment, remove the span enclosures and add style="text-align: center;" to the <p>. See below:
< p id="wptd_footer" style="text-align: center;" >
& copy; < ?php the_time("Y"); ? > < a href="< ?php bloginfo("url"); ? >" title="< ?php bloginfo("name"); ? >">< ?php bloginfo("name"); ? >. All Rights Reserved
< /p >

Note: don't copy and paste the codes above as there are spaces added to avoid being interpreted as html tags. Just follow the instructions.

Hope these helps,

Hi Kevin,

What theme are you using? Most likely you can see it at the theme options page. If not, you might need to change the ID in the sidebar.php codes.

Thanks,

I purchased the the web news theme and I wanted to know how I get the layout like the demo?

Hi Dieter,

Yes that can be done. All the default widgets on the sidebar are available in the widget area. So you simply have to drag and drop our default widgets accordingly then drag and drop your aweber forms too.
Another option also is to do it directly on the codes. Here's how to setup default widgets to display always at the sidebar particularly on top:
1. Go to sidebar.php cut lines 10 to 12 (inside the else condition) and paste it below the <div id="sidebar">
2. Insert /*do nothing */ in replacement to the lines that were cut and paste. This avoids potential errors on codes.

Hope this helps,

Hi Carolyn,

To set the slider to appear, create a post or edit a post and set the category to 'Slider'.
For more instructions on the HowTos kindly go to the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page at the admin area. That's below the WPTD Options page. Most instructions in setting up the premium theme are all there.

Hi carrie wing,

You don't need to use any plugin to do this. I'll give you instructions on how to exclude pages through editing the codes:
1. Go to the theme directory and edit line 29 of header.php. Change dp_list_pages(); to wp_list_pages();
2. Add some parameters to wp_list_pages(). For example:

wp_list_pages('exclude=1,2,3');

where 1,2 and 3 are IDs of the pages that you want to exclude separated by comma.

For additional reference, refer to the link below:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_list_pages#Exclude_Pages_from_List

To know the ID of the page, here's how:
* Log in to your WordPress admin console.
* Click on Pages link, to go to the Edit Pages page.
* You will see a list of all the pages with their names hyperlinked.
* Hover your mouse over the name of the page whose id you need.
* Keep an eye on your browser’s status bar.
* In the status bar, following the name of the page you will see something like “?action=edit&post=12″
* The number after “post=” is your page id. (12 in this example).

Hope this tutorial helps,

Hello. I was wondering how to exclude pages from being listed in the top navigation. I have tried and Exclude Pages plugin and tried the WP-DropDown CSS plug-in, and they don't seem to work in this template. Thanks.
